Paul Pugh

This year there many applications for the Bobcat Band scholarships. With so many qualified applicants, the committee chose to award two scholarships.

Paul Pugh has been a member of the Bobcat Band since the sixth grade.  He has participated in all of the band ensembles offered at Burley High School. He has also been a member of the BHS Orchestra as well as the BHS Bel Cantos and the Men's Choir. Paul has been a member of the All-Northwest Orchestra and the Idaho All-State Orchestra. He has performed with the Magic Philharmonic and has been the Low-brass section leader for the Bobcat Band. Paul plays the Tuba, trombone and the cello.  Paul will be attending Idaho State University in the Fall of 2022.

Jordan Christensen has been a percussionist for the Burley High School Bobcat Band.  He has been Drum Captain his junior and senior years and played snare and bass drum as well as keyboard percussion in the marching band front ensemble. Jordan has lettered in band and is also an Eagle Scout. Jordan has also been active in the BHS Choral program as a member of the Bel Canto Choir. Jordan has a GPA of 3.45 and plans to attend Brigham Young University Idaho after a two year mission for his church. Jordan has commented that; "Band has given me a safe place to grow and improve my instrumental skills.  I was pushed to my limits and was forced to grow to meet what was required of me.  It wasn't easy at the time, but looking back it was exactly what I needed to improve. All in all, I would not be the person - leader or otherwise - I am today without the Burley Bobcat Band!" We are very proud of Jordan and are pleased to award the 2021 Bobcat Band Scholarship to him.
